Flowers, Chocolate, and Love

Tomorrow we ring in February. We're praying it is filled with love and joy for all of us.

We cats enjoy February as mamma fills our home with flowers and scented candles. She likes to dance and eat chocolate. It brings her smiles to her face and we like seeing them.

Did you ever wonder about the history of Valentine's Day? We did - so here's something if you want to learn about it: History of Valentine’s Day - Facts, Origins & Traditions - HISTORY

Flowers, chocolate, and love warm our hearts! It is cold where we live, and another thing that keeps me warm is sitting right by the heating vent. Hahaha

I am a smart cat.

Last week of January 2021

The last week of January always gives us great pause.

It brings to us a heavy heart as we are reminded that another year has passed without our beloved Stray Cat.

We honored him last year at the two year mark: Two Years

We honored him the year before, at the one year mark: One Year

And here we are, at year three, and it seems still so incredibly sad. There is a huge part of our hearts that wants to not remember, to not recognize the anniversary, to just eat ice cream, and take a walk and not talk about it.

Last week of January.

The month went fast. The year before went slow.

If you pray, please say a pray for our friend, Michele, who on the anniversary of Stray's passing, we also recognize and honor the loss of her sweet Myles.

To make a donation in honor of Myles, please do so here: https://www.kidsandcars.org/
Thank you.

Hug your loved ones tight.

Martin Luther King had a dream -

We hope you all had a wonderful week. We will start this post to tell you that Pasqua felt he deserved a little video, too: Life With Cats

🐱

Tomorrow, we honor Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) who bravely challenged the interracial wrongs of the United States. President Ronald Reagan signed a bill creating a federal holiday in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1983. It is observed the third Monday of January, and was first celebrated in 1986.

It was written that ten days after Martin Luther King, Jr. was attacked in 1958, that it affirmed his dedication to nonviolence. “A climate of hatred and bitterness so permeates areas of our nation that inevitably deeds of extreme violence must erupt,” he said. “The experience of these last few days has deepened my faith in the relevance of the spirit of nonviolence, if necessary social change is peacefully to take place.”
Tragically, he was assassinated ten years later. He was loved by many, and like so many leaders with dreams for a more unified and safe country, he was also hated.

Here is a list of ten things you may not know about this brave man: 10 Things You May Not Know About Martin Luther King, Jr.

How will you honor his memory this week?

I shall end this post with hope in my heart, and cute photos to hopefully warm yours:

When we are not napping, we are window watching. The squirrel knocked down our bird feeder and happily ate the food in the yard. Squirrels are very enjoyable to watch.

Delighted with a gift, and the simple pleasures of life.

Exciting news here! I have a new toy, a big happy fish, and it is by far the very best Christmas gift I received.

Mamma tried to catch me playing with it on video, but I am hip to her game, and as soon as I noticed she was recording me, I stopped playing. I am a wee-bit camera shy. Check meowt: Life With Cats

This fish is awfully fun, and pretty, too - thanks to Aunt Jules for sending it to me.

We had some snow here this week, and I liked watching it from the window. Grateful to not have to be out in it. Between the fun new toy, and being able to be inside in the winter, I know I am a blessed cat.

Does it snow where you live? Do you have winter? Winter here offers beautiful sunrises, and when it snows it looks magical outside.

I enjoy being inside, lots of blankets to warm up in. If you like to warm up with a blanket, hot cup of tea or cocoa, whatever you like, be sure to treat yourself this week, and relish in the beauty of life.

Welcome 2021!

Happy New Year, Readers!

Humans made it through a year filled with difficulties and uncertainties, but for us cats, it was one of the best years of our lives!

We are happy cats, with mamma home a lot, and we have zero complaints about 2020. 2020 is gone now, and we realize humans learned a lot about what matters most in life during the past year.

For us, it has always been faith, family, food, and fun. We will get 2021 off to a great start by continuing our habit of starting each day with prayers of thanksgiving. For those of you who are re-examining your life we encourage you to pay attention to your thoughts and words.

When humans focus on things they can't do anything about, they are not living in peace - they live in frustration instead. Mamma knows that when she starts to worry about things that are out of her control, anxiety and stress sneak in. We don't want that for her or you.

How much thankfulness are you expressing in your life? If you want a challenge in 2021, try to get through one day without one complaint.

As you challenge yourself each day to do this, you may find how easy an attitude of gratitude can be. By this time next year, you will have become outrageously thankful. Take it from us cats: meow and you get treats; climb on the sofa, you get to relax. Focus on the good things that you can control. Focus on being thankful for all your blessings.

Here is one of our blessings from the week - our feral Grigio, who we love desperately, visited us daily.

We hope 2021 brings you health, peace, and joy.

Purr & Paw,
-Stivali. 🐾
